Strategies
This Blackjack Basic Strategy app allows you to quickly lookup the best basic strategy for a given hand, dealer's card and a set of table rules. The set of rules that affect basic strategy is always displayed at the top.
The source of the basic strategy tables is Michael Shackleford, the creator of the WizardOfOdds, which endeavors to be the most trusted and authoritative website about casino gambling. Â
The strategies are displayed in three separate tables identified by the letter in the top left cell:
H - Player has a hard hand.
S - Player has a soft hand.
P - Player has a pair that may be split.
The top row indicates the dealer's card.
The left column indicates the total value of the player's hand for hard or soft hands, or the value of the cards in a pair.
The cell at the intersection of the dealer's card column and the player's card row shows the best basic strategy for that hand.
The following common abbreviations are used for the player's action:
H Â - Hit
S Â - Stand
P Â - Split
Dh - Double if possible, otherwise Hit
Ds - Double if possible, otherwise Stand
Rh - Surrender if possible, otherwise Hit
Rs - Surrender if possible, otherwise Stand
Rp - Surrender if possible, otherwise Split

Number of decks - choose from 1, 2, or 4+ (four or more decks).
Dealer hits on soft 17 - if selected, the dealer hits ace and any number of cards totaling six points (known as a "soft 17"). Otherwise dealer must stand on all 17.
Double after pair splitting - if selected, the player may double after splitting a pair.
No hole card - if selected, the dealer only gets one card, so there is no peeking for a potential Blackjack. Otherwise, the dealer gets a second card, face down.
