Rules

Tri Peaks Solitaire is played with one deck of 52 cards.

The game starts with eighteen cards dealt face-down on the tableau to form three face-down “pyramids” of six cards each, and a row of ten cards beneath.

The twenty-four remaining cards make up the stock. The first card from the stock is put in the foundation. For a card in the tableau to be moved to the foundation, it must be a rank higher or lower regardless of suit. This card becomes the new top card and the process is repeated several times (e.g. 7-8-9-10-9-10-J-10-9-8, etc.) until the sequence stops. Along the way, any face-down cards that are no longer overlapping are turned up.

In case the sequence is stopped, i.e. no card on the tableau can be put over the top card of the foundation, a card from the stock is placed on the foundation to see if it can start a new sequence. Cards are transferred from the stock to the foundation one at a time as long as it does not begin a new sequence with the cards on the tableau.

The game is won if all three peaks are cleared before or after the last card from the stock is discarded to the waste pile.

The cards in the three peaks can be shown, this is controlled by the Settings.

Menu

You can control the game through the menu with the following commands:

• New Game - reshuffle the decks and start a new play.
• Hint - provide an on-screen hint for all valid moves. The cards that can be moved to the foundation are outlined in green.
• Explain - show and explain all possible moves.
• Undo - undo, one at a time, your moves.
• Settings - configure different options the way you like it.
• Scoreboard - we record the number of times you have this solitaire converged. You can get to the Game Center Leaderboard to compare you score to other players.

Settings

You can configure different options the way you like it:

• Hide locked cards - choose to show or hide locked cards in the tableau.
• Fan out foundation cards - stock the cards in the foundation or fan them out.
• Card size - select small, medium or large print cards.
• Deck on left - show the deck on the left side of the screen.
• Show timer - show the game timer.
• Show errors - show an error message if you attempt an invalid move.
• Fast animation - move the cards faster.  

Gestures

You can control the game with the following gestures:

• Tap a card in the tableau to move it to the foundation.
• Tap a deck to deal one card to the foundation.
• Drag a card from the tableau to the foundation.
• Long press - pause the game.
• Swipe left - undo your previous move.
• Swipe right - show Hint.
• Swipe down - show and explain all possible moves.
• Swipe up - bring up the Settings view.
